ACT IV - SCENE IV. Antium. Before Aufidius's house.
CORIOLANUS
1 A goodly city is this Antium. City, 2 'Tis I that made thy widows: many an heir 3 Of these fair edifices 'fore my wars 4 Have I heard groan and drop: then know me not, 5 Lest that thy wives with spits and boys with stones 6 In puny battle slay me. Enter a Citizen 7 Save you, sir.
Citizen
8 And you.
CORIOLANUS
9 Direct me, if it be your will, 10 Where great Aufidius lies: is he in Antium?
Citizen
11 He is, and feasts the nobles of the state 12 At his house this night.
CORIOLANUS
13 Which is his house, beseech you?
Citizen
14 This, here before you.
CORIOLANUS
15 Thank you, sir: farewell. Exit Citizen 16 O world, thy slippery turns! Friends now fast sworn, 17 Whose double bosoms seem to wear one heart, 18 Whose house, whose bed, whose meal, and exercise, 19 Are still together, who twin, as 'twere, in love 20 Unseparable, shall within this hour, 21 On a dissension of a doit, break out 22 To bitterest enmity: so, fellest foes, 23 Whose passions and whose plots have broke their sleep, 24 To take the one the other, by some chance, 25 Some trick not worth an egg, shall grow dear friends 26 And interjoin their issues. So with me: 27 My birth-place hate I, and my love's upon 28 This enemy town. I'll enter: if he slay me, 29 He does fair justice; if he give me way, 30 I'll do his country service.
